EDGE UK® is a state-of-the-art facility located at General Dynamics UK’s site in South Wales. The facility provides partners from across small- to medium-sized enterprises, academia and customers with access to virtual and physical collaboration environments.

The facility encourages close collaboration between partners to enable the rapid deployment of best-of-breed science and technology innovations into fieldable technologies and demonstrators.

General Dynamics UK’s leadership in the C4ISTAR land domain means that we are naturally placed to lead the development of cutting-edge technologies harnessing the necessary collaborative efforts across academia and industry, to deliver the next evolutionary step-change in mission-winning capabilities and solutions our customers demand.

EDGE® across the UK

EDGE UK® is part of General Dynamics EDGE® Innovation Network (EIN) that aims to create and maintain an open environment where members can nurture, characterise and position current and emerging technology and capabilities to equip a mobile, better connected and better informed end user.

EDGE UK® has recently integrated with General Dynamics UK’s Modular Experimentation Facility (MEF), allowing EDGE UK® BCIP assets and MEF ISTAR assets to share information, creating opportunities to undertake projects at reduced costs to all parties.

The project has allowed significant de-risking of integration work between air and land domains, by providing both facilities with each others assets, expertise and experience. Using both facilities in demonstrations provides a holistic view of two vital battlespace areas, allowing SME product integration with common components and key technologies.

"The General Dynamics EDGETM UK facility has given PPM the opportunity to show case our ViaLite RF over Fibre technology to a wider audience of military personnel than ever before. It often proves difficult to make the vast range of applications that ViaLite can be used for come to life in front of customers, but this is exactly what the EDGETM UK achieves. A fixed demonstrator of the ViaLite technology was left in place at the EDGETM UK facility for several weeks to allow visits by UK MOD personnel.
